Internationally renowned Italian artist Erica il Cane was brought to Drogheda for the Drogheda Arts Festival to create a large mural that now envelops the outer-walls of the Droichead Arts Centre. The mural was painted over the course of the 4-day festival for all to see. This was accompanied by an exhibition of the artist’s work in the gallery of the Arts Centre which also included a sculpture made on site. Erica’s work sees depictions of animals in unique, human situations rendered in Victorian-like illustrations. His narratives always try to communicate with the society which inhabits his painted spaces, searching for the uniqueness of each place. This was the first time Erica Il Cane worked on Irish ground!
